AI Hackathon for Public Sector 2026

ASHISUTO, in collaboration with Digital Penang, successfully organised the 1st Penang AI Hackathon 2026, bringing together 14 goverment agencies and Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) across Penang to accelerate AI adoption in the workplace. Sponsored by Amazon Web Services (AWS), the month-long programme consisted of three key phases: 16 June 2026 – AI Training Workshop, where participants were introduced to Amazon Quick Suite and learned how AI can support everyday business processes through hands-on activities. 26 June 2026 – Judging & Presentation Day, where participating GLC teams showcased their AI solutions and presented their project ideas to a panel of judges. 30 June 2026 – Closing Ceremony & Winners Announcement, celebrating the outstanding teams and recognising innovative AI solutions developed throughout the hackathon. The hackathon provided participants with practical exposure to AI technologies while encouraging collaboration, innovation, and digital transformation within Malaysia's public sector ecosystem.
